Project Matcha
Project Matcha is a cafe in Portland, OR, specializing in high-quality matcha served in a minimalist, thoughtfully designed space. The cafe gained and sustained momentum through a strong social media presence with over 8k followers on Instagram, becoming a popular destination for a primarily Gen-Z audience drawn to it’s aesthetic interior, quality drinks and modern branding.

Social Club Branding
In an effort to draw more customers in and make the cafe more of a third space, they launched a social club called Project Matcha Social. I designed branding for the social club.
Logo
The logo utilizes their main cafe logo, but adds a touch of playfulness with the calligraphic font to distinguish it from the main branding in a subtle way.

Colors
Colors are reversed from their original cafe branding, using green on white instead of white on green. Vibrant versions of the colors were used to reflect the playful and lively aspect of the social club.

Run Club Flyers
The first event hosted by the social club was a 4KM run club event in September, 2026, I designed flyers to be placed in the cafe and posted on social media to promote the event.
Design
The flyers utilized the social clubs branding colors and modern typefaces to blend seamlessly into the cafe’s interior, I created two variations.

Social Media
Flyers were posted on social media by customers as they came through the cafe in the weeks prior to the event, providing grass roots marketing to spread the word of the event.

Impact
The event had strong community turnout with 200+ participants. Attendees ran or walked together before gathering at the cafe for an after‑party featuring a live DJ, raffles, and matcha drinks—transforming the café into a social hub and increasing in‑store engagement and purchases.
